Basil in a flower vase………… Yes ……….. one month and still going ……… One sprig is actually trying to take root……..Don’t know how I did that…….Pick them when a little bit of bloom is coming. …… smells good too ……don’t know about eating this one…..I think I’d still pick fresh over vase…… the scent might ward off a few mosquitoes…

Monkey Grass in a fish aquarium…….. Oh yes, it will even take over……..Just goes to show you how much water that monkey grass can take…….

American Beauty kept short

American Beauty kept short

American Beauty ……… grows wild and wooley in my yard ………..Tame it by chopping it down………. I absolutely did my best to kill this one without actually digging it up………….Some times a fail is a success………… Doesn’t happen often, but sometimes its great.

Herbs and Sun

So I had chives and Four O’clock flowers growing under my Dwarf Apple tree, ’cause both the herb and flower do not like a whole lot of sun.  (most herbs do not like a lot of sun.)  And both the chives and the Four O’clocks are suppose to deter bad bugs away from the apple tree.

Everything was going along fine, until I cut down the cucumbers that were growing in a plot on the west side of the tree.  Then the chives and the flowers started to wilt in the fierce afternoon sun.  So now I’ve got my ugly wheel-barrel parked on the right of the tree to shade the plants from the p.m. sun.  So… pretty right next to ugly.  What’a you goin’ do?

Mint

When I first got my mint plants I remember hovering over them and saying ‘Grow, grow, grow.  I want to put you in my tea.’  Now, I can’t keep up–not just by drinking tea–so I guess its time to dry, store and make essence oil.

How to make Mint Oil

Also my mint is trying to flower now.  Should I allow this?
